Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage is the gentlest treatment on our menu, and one of the most misunderstood. Rather than working into muscle, your therapist uses very light, rhythmic, directional strokes across the surface of the skin, designed to support the body's natural lymphatic flow.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage at Escape 8 Spa

Lymphatic drainage is the gentlest treatment on our menu, and one of the most misunderstood. Rather than working into muscle, your therapist uses very light, rhythmic, directional strokes across the surface of the skin, designed to support the body's natural lymphatic flow.

If you arrive expecting firm pressure you will be surprised by how soft it is. That lightness is the point — the lymphatic system sits just beneath the skin, and heavy pressure works against it rather than with it.

What to Expect

The treatment is slow, repetitive and quiet. Your therapist follows a specific sequence and direction, typically beginning near the lymph nodes and working methodically across the body.

Most guests find the rhythm deeply calming and many fall asleep. Afterwards you may feel lighter and notice you need the bathroom more than usual, which is entirely normal. Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.

Who It Suits

  • Guests who feel puffy or heavy, particularly in the legs
  • Anyone who finds conventional massage too intense
  • Long-haul travellers and people who sit or stand all day
  • Guests wanting a genuinely restful treatment rather than a workout

An Important Note

Lymphatic drainage massage at Escape 8 Spa is a relaxation and wellbeing treatment. It is not a medical therapy and is not a treatment for lymphoedema or any other medical condition. If you have a diagnosed lymphatic condition, a heart or kidney condition, an active infection, or you are undergoing or recovering from medical treatment, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before booking. We don't offer this or other full body massage for pregnant guests, but Head, Neck & Shoulder Massage, Foot Massage and Japanese Head Spa remain available — just let us know when booking. Please also tell our team about any medical conditions or recent surgery when you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the pressure so light?

The lymphatic vessels sit close to the surface of the skin. Light, rhythmic strokes work with them; deep pressure does not.

How will I feel afterwards?

Relaxed, often lighter, and sometimes sleepy. Increased trips to the bathroom are normal. Drink plenty of water.

How many sessions do I need?

It is a wellbeing treatment rather than a course of therapy — book it as often as you enjoy it. Guests who come regularly often use one of our prepaid packs.

Can I combine it with another treatment?

Yes. It pairs well with a Japanese Head Spa for a completely restful visit. It is generally not combined with the cold plunge in the same session.
